The Car Club of the Month for April 2009 is:

Lovin’ Those F Bodies at the Southern Camaro/Firebird Association (SCFBA)
Anyone who admires Camaros and Firebirds can find helpful information and meet some great people at the Southern Camaro/Firebird Association (SCFBA). SCFBA serves Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts and racers in the Southern U.S. and encourages the modification and restoration of these great cars.
History and Club Details
SCFBA was founded in June 2003 as an F Body club and was located in the WC Florida area. The purpose was to have a specific club for Camaros and Firebirds. Many other sports cars were already the main focus of many clubs such as the Mustang, Buick GN, Corvette, and Viper, but there were not many for Camaros and Firebirds. The club was started by members of a local racing club and then grew to become one of the most active - and friendly - groups around.
The club expanded in 2005 to cover the entire Southeastern U.S. region and officially became the SCFBA. In March 2006, Central Florida Street Cars (CFSC) became an affiliate of SCFBA. Then, Central Florida Street Cars (CFSC) merged with the club in March 2008. This merger allowed SCFBA to have a show car and racing presence combined. Folks from all around Florida and a few from other parts of the U.S. are now active in the club. The club hosts a number of activities for its members throughout the year, and gives every member a chance to restore, fix, modify, show, and even race their F Body vehicles.
Membership Benefits and Information
The club welcomes F Body fans to join, and enjoy meeting others and helping one another reach F Body success. It encourages all members to be active, not only online, but at local club meetings and events. To ensure membership activity, new prospective members are required to attend a minimum of two monthly SCFBA meets so the other members can get to know them. Another member must sponsor the individual and initiate a private vote. There is a five-day voting process, and then the prospective member will be notified of the outcome. Those with questions about the process can visit the club's official website for details.
SCFBA Happenings for All to Enjoy
SCFBA keeps members busy year round with events such as meets, car shows, and track events. These are provided for the regional area and offer a chance for members to get together and have Camaro and Firebird related fun. The club also hosts a meeting at least once a month and occasional barbecue parties.
Some of the exciting events to be enjoyed include the Statewide Meet, BMP Track Day, Race Rock, the Plant City Meet, the Ocala Meet, Fun Spot, Dyno Day, the Winter Park Meet, and the Clearwater Meet. The Statewide Meet is a gathering of F Body fans from around Florida and is open to all domestic rear wheel driven vehicles including Camaro, Firebird, Corvette, Dart, GTO, Mustang, Charger, Road Runner, Daytona, Viper, and others. At the event there are awards with spectator voting, drawings for door prizes, local tours of a museum and other interesting escapades, a car show, and great local food. The entire family can enjoy this amazing meet.
Another big event is the Sun N Fun Auto/Bike Show featuring more than 500 cars with private owners and vendors offering used parts. The show has a great mix of bikes and cars. Those who enjoy the Christmas season will also love the Plant City Christmas Meet. The entire town is decorated with beautiful Christmas lights and decorations. The club also gives back to the community during the holiday season with a Christmas Family Fund Meeting, which raises money to help a local family in need.
In the club forums online, members can keep track of events that are happening on the Florida East and West Coast, at Treasure Coast, and outside the state as well.
SCFBA on the Net
The club's official website brings members and prospective members up-to-date information about the club and its monthly events. The club's forums are a popular place for members and F Body fans to socialize, find out about events, post questions, and chat about their favorite automobiles. The forums feature topics such as club information and membership details, monthly club events, regional news, weather warnings, and technical discussions about Camaro (generations one through four), GM V6 (all generations), modifications, and general technical items.
The main club website also features preferred businesses, affiliate information, technical links, past event videos and photos, and terms and conditions for the club and the website. Some of the technical links cover topics such as LT series powered vehicles, V6 Camaro and Firebird models, the official Firehawk site, LS and LT series vehicles, nitrous information, and Speed Density systems. There's also an apparel store offering club logo t-shirts, tank tops, jackets, coffee mugs, mouse pads, wall clocks, caps, club stickers, and even logo baby bibs.
Anyone living nearby that loves F Bodies should check out SCFBA and all this club has to offer. There are many opportunities to meet people and have a splendid time with Camaros and Firebirds.
